Post subject: jpg corruption
Archived from groups: alt>graphics>photoshop (more info?)
I changed a .jpg photo's extension by mistake to .txt (don't ask!) but when
I renamed it back PS said it couldn't open it because "opening
mathematically coded .jpg's was not implemented".

HELP.... now what can I do??

Did you try to open it with Windows Paint after renaming *.txt to *.jpg ?
If this is possible, save it as (in Paint) and PS will open it correctly.

I hade something like this sometime ago, and it worked.

One program that seems to open any image file is Irfanview, which is
available free from www.irfanview.com I have had several instances when A
file would not open in PS and have opened it in Irfanview and then saved it
again and it has then been OK in PS
