need to backup actions.. can't find set I created..

Do a search of *.atn and you will find out where your Actions
are being stored.
You can also phone or write to Adobe for free support if you bought a
legal copy of CS3.

thank you.. I just called, the guy said my question was for tech
support, he said they're only open during the week...

can't find the set I want.. I have created two sets, one called
"MyActions" I see that one, I don't see other one, called "Photos"..

but I can't FIND the set anywhere that contains the actions.. I have
created two sets, one is called MyActions, I can see that one, but I
can't see other one, called PHOTOS.. I really don't get that, there's
no difference technically betw. the two..

the action will show up when you re-open PS but unless you specifically
save the entire set you saved it to or the new set it won't stay saved if
you reinstall
or change sets

BTW how did you resolve the first crisis of license failed??

Nope, you won't. Unfortunately, actions are not saved automatically as
..atn sets, unless you do so yourself. Instead, they are saved in some
obscure preference file. I believe it's this one (I'm a Macintosh user,
so I have to make a guess at the exact path in Windows):

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application
Data\Adobe\Photoshop\10.0\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings\Actions
Palette.psp

I just re-installed PS and created set again, and put one action in it,
I still don't see set in CS3/Presets/Actions folder...

Like I said; your own action sets will *NOT* be saved in the
Presets/Actions folder unless you do so yourself manually. They are
stored in the Actions Palette.psp file, which is a preference file and
which can be found in a different location.

But Maya, Johan explained twice where it is. Although I must say the
file 'Application Data' is not to be seen as a default on 'Total
Commander', which I use.

In any case, that is where your actions are.

Documents and Settings\Username\Application
Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\presets\Actions

Little different to what Johan said, because he is a Mac user.
Read the path above.
That is where I always save mine from before formatting my hard drive.

You have to save the actions you created:
Open CS3 (Photoshop).. highlight the 'action' you want to save... click
the little arrow pointing right at the top right of the Action menu for
a fly out menu... click save actions ... The action will be saved into
the Photoshop actions folder so you can find and move it later... Repeat
for all the actions you want saved for transfer

Correction: Highlight the action SET. You cannot save individual
actions, only action sets (which of course may contain only one action).

Thanks for the correction Johan.. I thought the OP had his CS3 problem
solved and could open it.. I guess I was wrong.. The OP can't get into
CS3 to save them anyway.. I have offered all I can. I am stumped now as
to how the OP can find and save his actions (sets).. even if the OP
finds the action.PSP you suggested, how would he be able to save his few
individual actions out of it to be usable later?
