TIFF thumbnails and keywords in Bridge CS3 not appearing

Having just solved the missing keywords in Bridge CS3, I now find that TIFF
files don't show a thumbnail in Bridge CS3 (only a TIFF icon) and also
keywords can't be entered for the TIFF files.

Have checked as many settings as I could find but no luck.

any help would be appreciated

Correction, some of the TIF files do show a thumbnail with keywords and some
don't.
