accurately deep etcing hair. I saw once this dood using some kind of
masking technique to select hai in the most accurate way. Can someone
give me a step by step instruction of how to go about this process. I
NEED HELP. I been given a job and I need to change hair colour.

It would be helpful to know more about the image you're working with.
The method needed can vary from image to image.

For instance:
What color is the hair now, and what color does it need to be?
What kind of background is there, plain or busy? Is there contrast
between the hair and background?

There are some tutorials on the web for masking hair using channels.
One of these may help:

Also, here's one on changing hair color:

It is much easier to suggest solutions when you know nothing
about the problem.

WHAT YOU Want is not called etching (etching refers to a type of filtering
that resembles etchings>> a type of print made from carved wood or linoleum)

try MASKING
or extraction

recommend russellbrown's tutorial advanced masks
